Meum iter est omne divisa in partes tres
My whole trip is divided into three parts. From my birthday on June 8 through the 16th my group will be in Italy with Rome as our home base. Then we will take an overnight ferry to Greece where we will be from June 17 through July 3, using first Nafplion and then Athens as our home base. Finally, we will fly to England where we will be doing an excavation at the Roman fort of Binchester. While in England we'll be staying in Durham, and after the program officially ends I'll be spending two days in London with another girl from the program. This is about the most basic itinerary I can give you. More details about exactly where I'm going will come when I get over there. Until June 6, when the trip begins, all I'll be doing is gathering supplies and information.

Anne, WOW. What an adventure. I am so jealous. Looking forward to reading your blog. I've always wanted to travel thru Greece, especially the island of Santorini. There is a local restaurant here in Indianapolis called "Santorini Greek Kitchen". I know the owners. They met in Greece. Jeanette was in her 30s, on vacation in Greece, and met a waiter. They fell in love and Taki begged her to marry him and live in Greece, but she could not leave her mom and family behind. So he came to Indiaa, married her and they are running one of the most successful restaurants in town. The food is excellent. He is the head chef. I love going there. They have photos of Greece all over the walls, and everything is decorated in blue & white. I'm going there in a few weeks for their restaurant's anniversary party. Enough rambling - enjoy yourself. Isn't it kind of fun to be on your own? Just my little two-day drives to Indiana from Texas every summer were an adventure. You have only yourself to rely on. I would listen to music and sing. Stop at cafes and read my book, very relaxing. Good luck!

Happy 22nd birthday, Anne!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Anne! Can't wait to hear about your adventures - post soon.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday my little curly haired baby. It's been a very quick 22 years...well, mostly. Anne, you will have to post something eventually, but I know you are busy this first day...no pressure, just sayin'
ReplyDeleteI hope your experiences during your weeks in Italy, Greece and England will be memories you will enjoy revisiting throughout your life - as my experiences were when I lived in Germany for a year. There are so many interesting and good people throughout the world. But stay alert, too. Hope you are a better communicator than I am.
ReplyDeleteHi Anne!! It is good to hear from you. Can't wait to see pictures. Jackie, Thomas and I are having a good time in Japan.
